Computer science is rapidly changing more than ever, as a learning institute we must change and adapt with it. We want to provide an environment, which engages students to be active learners and take a responsibility for their education paralleling what is done in industry.
The field 3D animation is growing strongly, particularly in Denver and really engages students. Most people think of 3D animation as the visuals that make blockbuster movies and videogames possible, but the applications for this computer-dependent art form go well beyond entertainment venues. 3D models and environments are being used for education and industry in a staggering amount of areas — architecture, medical training, aerospace, engineering, product marketing, historical recreations, archeology, biotechnology, vehicle operation and real estate — to name a few. In fact, only about 5% of all computer animation produced in the world is for game design and Hollywood related.
The 3D Visualization and Animation competition is designed to evaluate each contestant's preparation for employment and to recognize outstanding students for excellence and professionalism in the field of 3D visualization and animation. The competition is a team event (team of 2), This contest will evaluate students' proficiency in creating a 3D image and animation within specified time, hardware and design constraints. The contest will include 3D visualization and animation skills and a written test.
